COYOTE ROBBED OF WIN ON A LATE CAUTION, AS SPEED WINS MICHIGAN.

Michigan International Speedway - (7/13/2001) - Temp Report - The Michigan race was a very clean race with only one caution in it. The race started with Bob in 2nd and coyote in 3rd place and the rest of the Team Speedlan boys further back in the field. Coyote would lead the first lap but Speed coming out of nowhere would lead the 2nd lap. On the first lap Stenzo would tap the #15 car, when the pack slowed up in turn one. Stenzo running in 21st position at the time would fall back to 30th place.

On lap 8 Bob would take over the lead untill lap 32 when Coyote would take it back. Bob would give up 2nd place to Speed on lap 41 as bob's tires started to wear out. Stenzo had now worked his way back up to 18th on this lap and was still passing cars for position.

Green flag pitting started with Bob on lap 47 but he missed his pit and would have to pit on lap 48. On lap 50 Coyote, Speed and Stenzo would pit. Coyote would exit pit row with a 7.1 lead on Speed in 2nd place. Then on lap 55 the #31 car cuts a tire and hits the outside wall hard in turn one. This would bring out the first and only caution of the day. Under this yellow Stenzo running in 6th and Bob in 12th place would come in to pit on lap 57. Coyote and Speed stay out with Coyote in first, but not for long as Speed takes the lead as they go green on lap 61.

Stenzo and Bob had to work there way back up from 24th and 25th position. There would finish with Stenzo in 3rd and Bob in 5th place. Speed would win the race with a 6.5 second margin on Coyote in 2nd place. If the race had gone green all the way there may have been a different winner. " But That's Race'n "
