LADY LUCK SHINES ON SPEED IN LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas Motor Speedway (3/12/00) -- Speed was "driving in his mirror" and managed to hold off Stewart and Jarrett in a close battle to the finish line to claim his first win of the 2000 season!

The cold temperature and stiff wind seemed to cause some problems today, as several drivers struggled throughout the event to dial their cars into competitive trim. Coyote experienced some bad luck he was unable to recover from. He struggled with a very loose race car, spinning twice early on and falling 2 laps down, then he wrecked his car and fell a third lap down, and could only muster a 24th place finish (career-low). Stenzo also had some bad luck, falling off the lead lap early when he wrecked while wrestling his loose race car, then dropped another lap later after wrecking again and was unable to get out of the pits ahead of the pace car. Fortunately, he was able to find his setup and raced his way back onto the lead lap by taking advantage of several timely caution flags, and muscled his way to a 5th place finish. Bob seemed to have no problems with the weather, and was able to run up front most of the day, finishing 4th to record his first top 5 of the 2000 season.
