SPEED STRUGGLES TO FIFTH WIN OF THE SEASON!

Martinsville Speedway (4/16/00) -- Speed qualified 23rd and was forced to wrestle his way through very stiff competition all day, but somehow managed to lead the most laps (96 of 175) of the caution-filled event and earn his 5th win in the last 6 races! Speed has definitely proven that Martinsville Speedway suits his driving style, winning 4 out of 5 races in his career here, and never finishing worse than 2nd! They should rename this place “Speedland”!

Coyote started from the 4th position, and led for a total of 21 laps, but tangled with another car and fell back in the pack. However, one of the 16 caution flags flew at an opportune time, and he was able to work his way back up front, passing Stenzo late in the race to finish 2nd.

Stenzo, who qualified 22nd, struggled early in the race, spinning out after getting caught on the curb, then later wrecking with another car. After pitting to repair his damage, he was rear-ended while exiting pit road and spun hard into the inside wall, severely damaging his car. He was forced to pit again and consequently fell a lap down while repairing the damage. However, he made the lap up after another caution flag came out, then slowly worked his way up to finish 3rd, marking his 5th top 5 finish of the season.

Bob started from the 8th spot, and raced among the top 10 all day. He clearly had a car capable of winning, but extremely tough competition and lapped traffic slowed his march to the front, and he ended up slipping back to finish 13th.
